Dr. Aditya Punamiya is a highly accomplished Surgical Oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal (GI), hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), Peritoneal surface malignancies ( HIPEC and PIPAC ) , Gynaecological , Urological and Breast cancers. With extensive training and expertise, he is currently a Senior Consultant at the Department of Surgical Oncology, Saifee Hospital , S L Raheja hospital and global hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Punamiya is renowned for his proficiency in advanced surgical techniques, including Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS), HIPEC, PIPAC, minimally invasive, and robotic surgeries.
He is widely acclaimed for his expertise in Peritoneal Surface Malignancies , Cytoreductive surgeries , HIPEC and PIPAC. These are extremely complex cases which are not routinely performed in many centres. Inspite of these being long and tedious operations, the success rates and survivals are on par with the best centres across the world.

Education and Training Dr. Punamiya’s academic journey began with an MBBS from MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai (2003–2009). He completed his MS in General Surgery from Krishna Hospital, Karad, followed by a DNB in Surgical Oncology at Hinduja Hospital, Mahim. His advanced training includes a Fellowship in Breast Cancer Surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital and international fellowships in Peritoneal Surface Malignancies and HIPEC in Milan, Italy, and Minimally Invasive and Advanced Pelvic Surgery in Manchester, UK. Additionally, he holds a PSOGI and ISSPP-certified PIPAC course.
Professional Experience Dr. Punamiya’s career spans prestigious institutions, including Tata Memorial Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Hinduja Hospital, Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care, National cancer Institute of Milan, Italy and Christie Hospital in Manchester. He has performed numerous complex surgeries independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams, contributing significantly to advancements in GI, HPB, and pelvic oncology. Now, he is a Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology where he continues to lead innovative treatment approaches for cancer patients.
Research and Contributions Dr. Punamiya is an active researcher with publications in reputed journals and presentations at international conferences. His research spans topics like lymph node metastasis detection, sarcopenia in gastrointestinal cancers, and postoperative outcomes in thyroid and pancreatic surgeries. He has also contributed to the medical field through case reports, posters, and as a faculty member at workshops and academic meetings.
